Day 1

Arrival in Sarria

 

Location: Sarria
After arriving in Sarria on your own and settling into your accommodation, take some time to immerse yourself in the town's pilgrim atmosphere. Enjoy leisurely strolls through the cobbled streets of the historic center or relax at one of the riverside terraces along the Malecón promenade. This day is all about resting, reflecting, and preparing for the unforgettable journey ahead. Duration: 8 hours | Admission: Free

Day 2

Stage Sarria - Portomarín (22 km)

 

Location: Portomarín
Begin your pilgrimage with a beautiful walk characterized by majestic forests, flowing rivers, and quaint rural villages nestled in lush pastures. The terrain is manageable, with minimal inclines, allowing you to discover various landmarks, including the Churches of Ferreiros and Barbadelo. Along the route, you'll find plenty of spots to pause and refresh yourself. Stage Portomarín - Palas de Rei (25 km)

This stage combines both road and mountainous terrain as you trek 25 kilometers. After tackling some hills, consider taking a slight detour to visit Castro de Castromaior, an ancient Celtic settlement that reflects Galicia's rich history. Continue through several villages until you reach Vilar de Donas, home to a notable Romanesque church and monastery, recognized as a National Monument. Stage Palas de Rei - Arzúa (29 km)

Stage Arzúa - Pedrouzo (19 km)

 

Location: O Pedrouzo
Today’s trek is shorter and less strenuous, making it easier on your feet. The terrain is mostly flat, and you'll encounter numerous bars, shops, and resting spots along the way. With Santiago just around the corner, many pilgrims take this opportunity to retire early for a good night’s rest before arriving in the city. Duration: 6 hours | Admission: Free

Day 6

Stage Pedrouzo - Santiago de Compostela (19 km)

 

Location: Santiago de Compostela
The final stage is relatively short and easy, so consider waking up early to reach Santiago in time for the pilgrim's mass. As you approach Monte do Gozo, you’ll experience the excitement of seeing the cathedral towers in the distance. Descending into the city, any fatigue you feel will fade as you approach the iconic Plaza del Obradoiro—your final destination.
